After the State Cabinet, it is now the turn of the power utilities to opt for e-board meet. Energy Secretary Ajay Jain led the board members of the power utilities in convening the first of its kind paperless board meeting of the power sector.
AP Power Generation Corporation managing director K. Vijayanand and other directors of the board attended the meeting with laptops and tabs and reviewed the items listed in the agenda without conventional files and papers.
The board of the Transmission Corporation too went e-way and the two meeting adopted the accounts audited by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India for the financial year 2013-14 at separate meetings. With the e-board meeting turning out to be a successful event, Mr. Jain said it was proposed to integrate all the wings of the APTransco and APGenco electronically. Subsequently, the utilities planned to share office notes and give approvals online in a phased manner.
In line with the decision, the functional heads of the power utilities had been directed to opt for e-governance model and organise training programmes for their staff to get acquainted with IT tools and packages. The concept had been adopted by the power establishment to improve efficiency and transparency besides limiting the usage of paper.
