It has been nearly three months since the works for the widening and developing the Pinnamaneni Polyclinic Road had begun with hacking of trees but the commuters using the road are still forced to go through a chaotic situation everyday.
Delay in the completion of the road development work turned a concern for the locals and the thousands of commuters who use the road to travel between important road junctions connecting various areas in the heart of the city. Though there had been a demand for the development of the road for a long time, it was only considered for development as part of the Krishna Pushkaralu works. The workers were quick to dig up the road on either side putting rider safety at risk and causing traffic congestion but are slow to execute the rest of the works.
“The situation is still the same and the officials are least bothered about the troubles of the local residents and commuters. Our vehicle tyres are getting damaged due to the half laid roads. Dust pollution has become the biggest concern,” said N. Simon, a resident of Siddartha Nagar.
Sources said the delay in the finalisation of the exact path of the road median and the design of the road by the engineers of the Corporation was the reason for the procrastination of the works.
As per the target set by the Municipal Administration department, the works are supposed to have been completed by June 30. On the other hand, works pertaining to other roads in the city are almost done.
