The police stopped the Mebaz ‘Magical Night’ fashion show arranged at Hotel Gateway in Vijayawada on Thursday as they did not have permission.
Centro and Mebaz, two local showrooms arranged the ‘Magical Night’ with much fanfare in the hotel, for which models from various cities arrived.
However, the Vijayawada Central Zone police stopped the show in the evening stating that there was no permission for the programme to be organised in the hotel. A police team led by Assistant Commissioner of Police P. Satyanarayana Rao visited the hotel and halted the fashion show.
‘No permission’
Police said that the organisers applied for permission for the show, but the police had not granted any permission. People waited outside the hotel entry gate late into the night in the hope that the show would begin a little late if the organisers convinced the police and obtained permission. The organisers made elaborate arrangements for the ramp walk of the models and public attended for the show in large numbers.
“As the fashion show is not suited for Vijayawada culture, we have stopped the programme. We will not allow the show,” said a police official.
A bevy of beauties from the modelling world of Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, and Hyderabad strutted across the ramp practising for the main event. Film actor Rana Daggubati was brought as show-stopper.Models included Akshitaa Agnihotri (Femina Miss India Chandigarh 2012), Arushu Rana (model), Anjum Fakih (Ford Super Model), Pooja Bhamrah (Miss India Oriental Tourism 2012), Farah Hussain (Femina Miss India Veet Miss Beautiful Legs), and Tania Singh and Darsh Kothari (both models).
