The police are taking no chances in view of the ‘Chalo Gottipadu’ call given by Left parties along with a few civic organisations demanding that the police slap criminal cases against the perpetrators of the violence. The CPI and CPI(M) have given a call to march towards Gottipadu village in Prathipadu mandal on Wednesday.

CPI(M) leaders P. Madhu and others were expected to take part in the protest. Superintendent of Police, Guntur Urban, Ch. Vijaya Rao said that prohibitory orders were in place in the mandal under section 144 Cr.P.C and section 30. “We have not given any permission to hold rallies in Prathipadu and we will open suspect sheets against any one trying to disrupt peace in the village. Those who are trying to incite communal passions are from outside the region,’’ Mr. Vijaya Rao told mediapersons here on Tuesday.

The police are deploying teams of Rapid Action Force personnel and Quick Reaction Teams in all the routes.

The SP said that cases under the Prevention of Atrocities (SC, ST) Act and section 324 IPC and other sections were slapped against the aggressors who were in still in judicial remand while those arrested for inciting the clashes had been granted bail.

Reacting to the pleas of Dalit organisations to register cases under section 307 IPC against the accused, the SP said that the police were investigating the case and depending on the merits of the case, would book the accused under section 307 IPC.
