Permission sought for re-polling in Tadigadapa

May 08, 2014 11:30 pm | Updated 11:30 pm IST - VIJAYAWADA:

While thanking voters, contestants and election duty officers and staff for peaceful conduct of polling on May 7, District Collector M. Raghunandana Rao stated in a press release that permission for re-polling in Tadigadapa polling station in Penamalur Assembly constituency was sought from the Chief Electoral Officer. It was because of some irregularities that came to the fore during scrutiny of statutory documents.

Mr. Rao also stated that though the overall percentage of votes polled has marginally reduced from 80.86 in 2009 to 80.19 now, the actual number of people who cast their votes has gone up from 24.48 lakh in 2009 to 26.75 lakh in 2014. It is also a significant point to note that the number of persons who voted has gone up in every Assembly constituency.

Meanwhile, the candidates were instructed to submit their lists of counting agents (seven per candidate) to the Returning Officers concerned by 5 p.m. of May 12 for following the process of counting scheduled for May 16 (from 8 a.m.).
