The political drama unfolding here seems to be scaling new heights with cine actor and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Nandamuri Balakrishna cautioning sitting MLA Kodali Venkateswara Rao (Nani) to watch his words.
The cine actor was in the town to attend a marriage reception hosted by TDP Gudivada incharge Raavi Venkateswara Rao here on Sunday.
Addressing the party cadre on the sidelines of it, Mr. Balakrishna said that he was cautioning Mr. Nani on behalf of the party, its leaders and people to watch his words, and stop foul mouth. Going further he said, “Memu ikkada gaajulu todukkuni koorcholedu (We are not cowards). The people will teach a befitting lesson if he does not mend his ways and stop casting aspersions against the party and its leaders.”
The Gudivada Assembly constituency has always been a bastion for the TDP. The contestants won from here not on their face value, but the people here voted for the Telugu Desam. The leaders come and go, but, the cadre and people vow their allegiance to the TDP. The party has not suffered with the exit of a disloyal leader, he said, adding, the MLA should bear these facts in the mind before criticising the party, which helped him in nurturing his political career.
Mr. Balakrishna said that TDP was founded to uplift the downtrodden and the poor. The party president N. Chandrababu Naidu was following the footprints of founder president N. T. Rama Rao and taking forward his goals and objectives, he said.
Mr. Raavi Venkateswra Rao was made incharge of the party here. He would be at your services. He would stand by your side always.
The party workers should extend their cooperation to him, he added.
Replying to a question, he said that he would contest from any Assembly constituency offered by the party high command.
Mylavaram MLA and TDP district president Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, Gannavaram MLA Dasari Balavardhana Rao, Pamarru incharge Varla Ramaiah, State general secretary Bonda Umamaheswara Rao and others were present.
