Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has said that he will positively consider the plea of employees of State government undertakings (PSUs) to implement Pay Revision Commission (PRC) recommendations on a par with other government employees.
He was willing to set up a Cabinet committee to look into the issue and take a decision at the earliest. The transfer of employees will begin on June 8, he said.
Speaking to a delegation of A.P NGOs’ Association (APNGOA) led by P. Ashok Babu, which met him here on Friday, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu urged the employees of State PSUs to do their best to increase productivity so that they could ward off competition from private enterprises. In such a case, the government could give wages in excess of the scales stipulated by the PRC.
Steps were taken to pay of minimum wages to contract/outsourced employees.
The government provided the employees with sophisticated gadgets for better delivery of services to the public and hoped that it would be useful in improving their performance.
Mr. Naidu said he was thinking of beginning the transfer of employees on June 8, but finishing the task before June 15 might not be possible due to some important programmes.
Speaking to mediapersons later, Mr. Ashok Babu said 11 demands were put before the Chief Minister, mainly including release of PRC arrears and raising the age of superannuation of employees of State PSUs to 60.
The minimum wage for a contract / outsourced employee was sought to be fixed at Rs.13,000 and the Chief Minister promised look into it. He (CM) also said that the plight of 20,000 out of 4.60 lakh State government employees who were not getting PRC benefits would be taken note of.
Speaking to The Hindu , Mr. Ashok Babu said APNGOA appealed to the CM to issue orders for beginning general transfers from June 8 keeping the academic year in view.
