Palamaner YSR Congress MLA N. Amarnath Reddy joined Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in the presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu here on Thursday.

He said that there was no respect to MLAs in YSR Congress.

Mr. Naidu alone can put the State on right track.

He went on to assert that he was prepared to resign and contest again on the TDP ticket and wondered if YSRC president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy would quit politics if he was victorious.

Mr. Amarnath Reddy said he had returned to the TDP in tune with the wishes of his followers and supporters.

Number goes up to 18

With this, the number of YSR Congress MLAs who switched loyalties to the Telugu Desam went up to 18. The exodus began with Bhuma Nagi Reddy, Nandyal MLA, his daughter Akhila Priya Reddy, Allagadda MLA, Vijayawada (West) MLA Jaleel Khan and others. Vizianagaram MLA Sujay Krishna Ranga Rao and other prominent leaders followed suit.
