The quad copter which has become an attraction in YSR Congress (YSRC) campaign in the city was stopped as it did not have the requisite permission from election officials.
It is said that YSRC Vijayawada Parliamentary Constituency candidate Koneru Rajendra Prasad reportedly engaged the copter from a private company for 20 days for electioneering.
Remote-operatedThe remote-operated copter carried the party flag in air and shot the campaign for a few days. YSRC activists used the flying object to woo the voters.
However, responding to the news published in these columns, the election officials directed the party to stop using the copter without permission and directed the police to book a case for violating the Code of Conduct.
Joint Collector and Vijayawada Parliamentary Constituency Returning Officer J. Murali said that instructions have been given for registering a case against the party for using the quad copter without obtaining permission from the officials concerned.
“We also cancelled permission for the inflated balloon for the YSRC anticipating danger if it disconnects from the wire. The balloon is of bigger size and is filled with helium gas. To avoid any trouble, we cancelled permission for it,” said Mr. Murali.
