The Dr. N.T.R. University of Health Sciences has started counselling for B.Sc Nursing, MLT and BPT ignoring a Government Order issued at the eleventh hour.

Health University Vice-Chancellor I.V. Rao addressing the media late on Saturday evening said according to the G.O.145 the share of management seats was 50 per cent. But, according to G.O.330 that was released by the government late on Friday night the management share was reduced to 40 per cent, he said.

According to the counselling schedule announced by the university the process should have started at 9 a.m. but did not actually begin till 11.30 a.m. The G.O. copy actually reached the university office at 10.30 a.m. and another hour was spent in consulting legal experts.

Prof. Rao said a decision to conduct counselling as per the old G.O. was taken after consulting legal experts. Minister for Health and Medicine D.L. Ravindra Reddy and Chief Special Secretary for Health and Medicine G. Sudhir have been informed of the decision, he said.

The Vice-Chancellor said the courts supported the decision of the Health University when it opted to go with the older G.O. in the past. Health university sources said the new government order may have been issued in response to a representation made by the Private Nursing Colleges several months ago.
