For all those harried parents, who are troubled by their children demanding new books, toys and compact discs every month, here is some good news. Khilonewala store at Labbipet has come up with a new service and is now offering books, toys and other items on rent.

Targeting children aged from 1 to 12 years, the store has a bank of over 700 items, including books, toys and compact discs. Customers willing to take books and toys on rent have to register their names by paying Rs.500 per child and an additional Rs.150 for every extra child.

Customers have the option of selecting from three membership plans of silver, gold and diamond and based on the plan, the membership fee varies. “The supply of books and toys, depends on the plan finalised by customers, if one opts for silver plan, then every week they will be supplied with one book and one toy. Similarly, those opting for gold plan, will be provided with two toys, one book and one cd,” explains Dinesh Attal, franchisee of Khilonewala Library in the city. After playing for few days, children tend to get bored of toys and same is the case with books, once they read them, they don’t bother it.

This is where rental service comes to play. Every week, they get new books and toys and the fun of playing with new toys and reading new books continues and parents do not have buy new ones every time, he says.

However parents have to make sure that books and toys are maintained properly, in case they are damaged or lost, they will have to pay for the items cost, he adds. The outlet is conducting an exhibition of books and toys at Hotel Sreenivas, Leela Mahal Centre on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Entry is free.
