Pilgrims visiting the city for a holy dip in the Krishna can have a jolly air ride and an aerial glimpse of the capital region, river and the temples.
Devotees can take a look at the crowded ghats, Goddess Kanaka Durga temple, Prakasam Barrage and other historic structures for a few minutes after the darshan. Pawan Hans Limited, a Government of India Enterprise, is offering the facility.
Vijayawada MP Kesineni Srinivas inaugurated the helicopter ride on the first day of the 12-day festival on Friday. Protocol Department Secretary Srikanth and Pawan Hans Joint General Manager (Marketing) Manish Rokade and others were present.
“We are arranging rides to the pilgrims with the help of A.P. Tourism and the Krishna district administration. Tickets will be given on first-come-first-served basis at Andhra Loyola College. Fare per head is Rs.1,999 and tourists can enjoy the scenic aerial view for eight minutes (including boarding and deboarding) which covers two ghats. Heli tourism is an added attraction during pushkarams,” Mr. Manish told The Hindu .
“The chopper rides are available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tourists can contact over mobile Nos. 8080781319 (or) 8689966266 for bookings and other information,” he added.
“The trip really enthralled us and we enjoyed our stay in the air,” said Ms. G. Mrudula, a second year engineering student from West Godavari district.
