Protesting against bifurcation of the State, advocates sought alms from passersby at the City Civil Courts here on Wednesday, and demanded that the process should be stopped even at this advanced stage keeping the people’s well-being in view.

They warned that the people’s representatives from Seemandhra region, who were apparently protecting their personal interests rather than the cause of unified State, would be taught a befitting lesson at an appropriate time.

Leaders of Seemandhra advocates’ JAC M. Jayakar, S. Rajendra Prasad, Israel and others said they were watching the conduct of each MP and MLA and those undermining the agitation for unified State would be made to pay the price for their failure in preventing bifurcation.

Their future in politics was bound to be sealed if they did not come forward to fight for unified State.

‘Danger ahead’

The advocates said there was no point in hanging on to the positions of power when the general elections are just over two months away.

“What is important is that Andhra Pradesh should remain as a single, unified State and the fact that bifurcation will lift curtains on a long reign of uncertainty replete with law and order problems should be kept in mind,” they observed.

The Seemandhra advocates’ JAC would continue its agitation till the Central Government changes its stand in favour of unified State and extend support to other sections fighting for the same cause, its leaders added.
