Not making movie on Sridevi, clarifies RGV

February 27, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:48 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

Film director RGV clarified that he was not making any film on veteran film actress Sridevi.

Responding to a question on the rumour that he was planning to make a movie on Sridevi, RGV said, “No, I’m not making any such movie”.

The answer comes as a surprise in the backdrop of the rumours about him making a movie and his intense obsession with the actress. The noted film director had earlier announced that he was a great fan of actor Sridevi through his book Naa Ishtam (My Way).

Going by RGV’s obsession with Sridevi, the industry was abuzz that he may make a movie on the actress at some point.

Going by his book, his interest in Sridevi is unique. Mr. Varma was among those who spent long hours in queues to buy tickets to watch her movies. He enjoyed admiring Sridevi’s posters and hoardings during his student days in Siddhartha College in Vijayawada.

An opportunity to direct Sridevi was a boon for him. “Directing Telugu flick Kshana Kshanam starring Bollywood diva Sridevi and Telugu hero Venkatesh was my love letter written to Sridevi. I basically directed the movie just to impress her,” he stated in a chapter titled My Sridevi in the book.

According to RGV, no man, including him, is eligible to marry her as she is the rarest of the creations that’s possible once in ten million years. “Sridevi is like a diamond which should only be seen in a dazzling light in a cinematic ambience and can’t be seen as housewife in Bony Kapoor’s house. I hated Bony for reducing her to a housewife,” he stated in the book.

However, despite having several opportunities, RGV could never express his feelings in front of Sridevi. “I have a small hope that Sridevi would at least have a look at this piece of writing at some point in time,” RGV sums up the chapter on Sridevi.
