: The Andhra Pradesh Non-Resident Telugu Society (AP-NRTS), which is headed by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, unveiled a grand plan of constructing a 27-floor iconic building in the emerging capital city of Amaravati in the coming few years.
It will have offices of 50 companies floated by NRIs, including a fair number of NRT entities, a revolving restaurant and other state-of-the-art facilities targeted at business visitors and tourists.
The project will be almost entirely funded by NRTs though the NRTS was formed by A.P government, said NRTS CEO Ravi Kumar Vemuru.
Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Mr. Kumar said the proposed high-rise structure was a part of NRTS’s activities planned for Amaravati, and exuded confidence that the NRTs (Non-Resident Telugus) would contribute their mite for development of the State.
He claimed that the NRTs were bringing back nearly Rs. 30,000 crore into the State economy every year. It was a phenomenal thing that any section of the Indian Diaspora could do to their motherland, he observed.
Mr. Ravi Kumar said the NRTS would serve as a ‘common conduit’ for the North American Telugu Association, United Kingdom Telugu Association, Telugu Association of North America and other Telugu associations in the world. It has felicitated the signing of MoUs by 76 companies with the Government of Andhra Pradesh and was in touch with more firms keen on investing in what is being touted as the Sunrise State.
