Asserting that none could stop the Telugu Desam Party's march to power in 2014 elections in the State, TDP Vice-President Lal Jan Basha on Tuesday exhorted the youth to expose the “anti-people'' Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre and the Congress government in the State.
The downfall of the UPA government had started with all sections of people fed up with the inept governments both at the Centre and in the State, said Mr. Basha, party incharge of Prakasam district while taking part in the party youth wing meeting here.
“People are waiting for an opportunity to teach a lesson to the “corrupt'' Congress, which had made the lives of the common people miserable'', he claimed.
He urged the party youth wing to work hard for the party's victory in the next local bodies elections.
Recalling that a large number of youngsters including himself had joined politics inspired by party founder NTR, he said the party would give due prominence for youth now also and ensure social justice for the downtrodden sections of people.
The State had witnessed all-round development in the then TDP regime and youngsters got more and more opportunities to prove themselves in different fields, including Information technology, he added.
Reservation
He said it was TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu who had mooted three per cent reservation for Muslims. Late Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy had misled Muslims by announcing five per cent reservation leading to court litigation.
On the other hand, the TDP had ensured socio-economic development of Muslims and taken care of their welfare by allotting funds for renovation of masjids and construction of Shadikhanas on a large scale unlike anywhere else in the country.
Senior TDP leader K. Balarama Krishnamurthy alleged that farmers were in trouble during the Congress regime due to shortage of farm inputs on the one hand and unremunerative price for their produce on the other hand.
It was unfortunate that the Chief Minister was unfamiliar with the problems of Tobacco growers who were struggling to break even in the wake of unfavourable market condition after fall in productivity because of unseasonal rains.
Party Polit Bureau member Siddha Raghava Rao, party district president D. Janardhan, TDP MLA from Markapur K. Narayana Reddy, Ongole party incharge E. Haribabu and Giddalur party incharge Sai Kalpana Reddy, women's wing district president T. Madhavi, Farmers wing district president K. Venkaiah and Dalits wing district president K. Ravichandra were among those who spoke.
