: Andhra Pradesh reeled under the impact of heat wave on Sunday as the day temperatures crossed 40 degree Celsius at most places.
Dry hot weather is expected to continue for at least the next five days, according to the Meteorological Department. Vijayawada, Tirupati and Kurnool recorded just over 40 degree Celsius while Visakhapatnam was far less hot at just 30 degree Celsius. As the temperatures soared, people stayed indoors for most part of the day and they were duly alerted about the danger of exposing themselves to the mid-day heat.
It was brisk business for soft drinks, coconuts and ice-creams as people scurried for cool things and coconut water that gives them the much-needed protection from sunstroke. People are wary of the rising temperatures and looked for different ways to beat the heat, including taking refuge in air-conditioned cinema theatres. Those who had to go out are seen taking necessary precautions.
