The APNGOs are forgoing their salaries to prevent the division of the State, but the general public should also show that they are against division by sending at least one person from each household for the second ‘Save Andhra Pradesh’ meeting to be held in Vijayawada on September 20, association State leader A. Vidya Sagar has said.
Open to all
Addressing media persons after releasing a poster on the second ‘Save Andhra Pradesh” meeting to be held at Swaraj Maidan (PWD Grounds) at 4 p.m. on Friday, Mr. Sagar said the first Save Andhra Pradesh meeting held in Hyderabad was restricted only to the APNGOs by the Andhra Pradesh High Court. But, the second meeting was open to all who were opposing the division of the State.
Mr. Sagar said the Krishna District Samaikyandhra JAC was sending letters and invitations to every villager asking the people to come and attend the second meeting that would be addressed by APNGOs State president P. Ashok Babu, Visalandhra Mahasabha president Nallamothu Chakravarthi, noted advocate Jandhyala Ravisankar, Andhra Intellectuals Forum spokesperson Chalasani Srinivas and others. Mr. Sagar said he had written to the different organisations to take out a rally on September 18 in an area of their choice carrying banners telling the public about the second ‘Save Andhra Pradesh’ meeting and work for its success. He said there was growing pressure on the government employees to cut power and water connections to the houses of Union Ministers and to dump garbage in the front of their homes, but the APNGOs had no such plan.
Signal for unity
There hearing impairment did not stop them from joining other students in a rally to protest against the proposal to divide that State. Students of the Madonna Junior and Degree College for the Deaf did not raise slogans with other students in a rally organised by the Samaikyandhra Students JAC, but signalled with their hands to say very clearly that they were against the division of the state for the creation of a separate Telangana.
Student JAC convener Devineni Avinash who spoke on their behalf said that those who graduate out of the Madonna College would be denied of opportunities to do further studies and find jobs if Hyderabad was given away to Telangana.
State Grandhalaya Samstha chairman and Padmasri Award winner Turlapati Kuthumba Rao visited the relay fast camp of the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) JAC and expressed his solidarity.
