More than 200 members of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) vowed to do their best for protection of environment at a programme organized by 8 (A) Naval NCC Unit on the occasion of World Environment Day at APSRMC School in Krishnalanka here on Thursday.
Commanding Officer of 17 (A) battalion Colonel A Kutty was the chief guest.
Mr. Kutty educated students about the importance of protecting environment which was facing unprecedented anthropogenic pressure and usefulness of increasing greenery.
NCC officers from Loyola College and PB Siddhartha College, Lt Cdr Arokiasamy and Lt. Bhanu Prakash along with cadets from various units undertook tree plantation drive and planted 200 saplings inside the school premises.
Sai Prasad Kaza, Commanding Officer of NCC 8(A) Naval Unit, District Forest Officer Ashok Kumar and others participated. NCC Cadets S.P. Raju and Divyasai of Andhra Loyola College gave speeches on the occasion.
