Police unravelled the mystery behind the death of a home guard, Aluri Stephen, with the arrest of his wife A. Shalini, her paramour Krishnavardhan and a medical shop owner, J. Narendra Kumar Reddy.
The victim was working in Nunna police station. He suffered stomach upset on March 27 and died after three days. Stephen’s mother, Krupavathi, who grew suspicious over the death of her son, lodged a complaint with Satyanarayanapuram police, who booked the culprits.
Disclosing this to the newsmen here on Tuesday, Central Zone Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) T. Prabhakar Babu said Stephen married Shalini ten years ago and the couple had two children. The accused, Krishnavardhan alias Krishna became friends with Stephen four months ago. He visited Stephen’s home several times and allegedly developed extramarital affair with Shalini.
Krishna told about the affair to his friend, Narender, who gave pills and helped them execute their plan. Shalini used to offer tea laced with the pills and after Stephen fell asleep, she used to spend with Krishna at home, according to police.
The home guard, who observed this, questioned his wife and had a quarrel over the issue.
Shalini, her paramour and Krishna decided to eliminate Stephen and accordingly the woman gave tablets for loose stools on March 27, said the ACP.
