‘All govt. departments will be housed in Vijayawada soon’

August 16, 2014 12:37 am | Updated 12:37 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

In the next two years, as many as 12 national institutions will be commissioned in Andhra Pradesh and the State will soon be on a progressive path under the rule of the BJP and the TDP, Minister for Health Kamineni Srinivasa Rao said here on Friday.

Speaking at the Independence Day celebrations at the State BJP office here, Mr. Rao hailed the decision of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to function from Andhra Pradesh itself and said that all government departments would be housed in Vijayawada soon.

“In the united AP, the coastal region could not prosper and even after more than 50 years of co-existence, no big educational institutes like IIM and IIT came up in the region,’’ he said.

BJP State president K. Haribabu hoisted the tricolour. Speaking on the occasion, he said that under Narendra Modi’s rule, the country was moving towards good governance and hailed the PM’s resolve to maintain good relations with the neighbours. “His recent speech at the Nepal Parliament was historic for no Indian Prime Minister in the near past had addressed the House”.

He also hailed Modi’s role in forming a special force for brining back the black money stashed in foreign banks. “The Congress, even after the Supreme Court’s intervention, could not act on black money,” he claimed.

Mr. Hari Babu further said that the Centre took a bold decision by merging seven mandals of Telangana with Andhra Pradesh in the Polavaram episode.

The Centre is keen on bringing down the spiralling food prices and has set up a panel to check the price fluctuations on a weekly basis, he said.

He said that under Congress regime corruption was institutionalised and soon after the taking over power, the BJP had taken several steps to control the menace.

He said that owing to several sacrifices of leaders and party men, BJP was able to form its government on its own strength. Later, Mr. Srinivasa Rao and Mr. Hari Babu gave away sports equipment such as badminton shuttle, volleyball and cricket kits to youngsters.
