MLA promises help to fire victims

Vijayawada East MLA Yalamanchili Ravi on Saturday asked revenue officials to issue documents pertaining to ration card and pension cards on a priority basis to victims of a recent fire accident at Ramachandra Nagar in the city.

The MLA was responding to a plea by the fire victims, who brought to his notice that they were unable to utilise services of the fair price shops as their ration cards, pension cards and other important documents were reduced to ashes in the fire tragedy. The MLA spoke to the victims after distributing financial aid to them.

Referring to members of 12 families who had migrated to this area from Rajupalem in Tripurantakam mandal of Prakasam district and had lost everything in the fire, the MLA said their case had been represented to the district officials and a financial assistance was sought for them.

He said that each of the family was entitled to get Rs.3,000 from the revenue department and urged members of the colony association to contribute their mite to the cause of the fire victims.

He said that he would try to use his good offices to impress upon the authorities concerned for allocation of pucca houses to the families who had migrated to this area 15-20 years ago.

Vice-president of the Ramachandra Nagar Colony Association P. Seetaram Chowdary, member Subba Rao, deputy tahsildar V.V.S.S. Subbarao, VRO A.V. Ramana and others were present.
