Their drawings reveal a passion for precision. They display streaks of creativity and the spread of natural imagery on the oil paintings show their ingenuity.
For the medicos, who are usually taught to handle surgeon's knife, it was a different experience to wield paint brushes and pencil sketches.
The exhibition-cum-sale expo put up by students of Guntur Medical College, under the aegis of Kalpana Kala Vedika, at IMA Hall was a reflection of myriad artistic expressions.
The Kalpala Kala Vedika was formed in 2008 by a group of GMC students to give vent to their creative side and also to fund various programmes taken up as charity. “We are going to allot a major chunk of proceedings to various social causes,” said organiser of exhibition, Indu Simha. The students have already contributed to flood relief fund and donated some amount to Shirdi Sai Baba Blind School.
The expo was a visual delight as the students showed rare glimpses of artistic splendour. For instance, the Taj Mahal designed with tooth picks by Surendra seems to be a painstaking effort as are the various handicraft artifacts, including greeting cards, multi purpose pen holders by Sruthi. The expo also featured photographs and 150 pieces of art drawn by about 50 students.
