Radha Rukmini, a State topper in the AP Post Graduate Medical Entrance Examination -2103 in the women ST category, was hoping that she would get a seat in her desired branch of MS –OBG (Obstetrician and Gynaecology) through the convenor quota in a top rung government college.

But today she is a disappointed medico, as she was denied a seat in the specific quota and had to settle down for an open category seat in a private college by shelling down a fee of about Rs. 15 lakh.

Not only Radha Rukmini, the students from the reservation categories BC (A to E) and SC/ST are a disappointed lot and they felt that the new seat matrix system that was brought into force through G.O. 43 from this year had hit them badly. The PG aspirants from the reservation categories even tried to stall the counselling process , demanding the scrapping of G.O. 43 and restoration of the old roster system. B.Girija, a PG aspirant said, the seat matrix system was introduced from this year with the idea that it would benefit the reservation candidates but it appears to be counter productive.
