Students and their parents must understand that the return of investments was not just money, but career as well, said Visu Academy Limited Global Education head Arul Joseph.
The Hindu Education Plus in association with Visu Academy Ltd. organised a seminar on ‘Education Abroad’, at Koneru Lakshmaiah University here on Monday.
On the occasion, Mr. Joseph said that the education opportunities abroad were abundant for the students who achieve good scores in TOFEL, GRE and GMAT etc. The study opportunities come with scholarships and sponsorships if students plan in a proper way applying at the right time.
The recommendation letter from a professor, statement of purpose (SOP) and education loan sanctioned by the banker will play a pivotal role in visa and admissions into the prestigious institutions and universities, he said.
As many as 1.6 lakh students aspire for admissions abroad every year and major chunk of this wish to go to the U.S. The students, generally, tend to go to, or opt for the universities/institutions which have best ranking. They should, however, look at academic strength of the department such as professors, projects handled/handling, sponsors, research work etc.
These factors give a good insight into the department and university, he observed. This apart, Mr. Joseph said that the students should also consider the climatic conditions in the country/area in which they would like to pursue the course.
Extreme cold and hot climate might not be suitable to some students. There were instances when some students returned to India due to vagaries of weather, he explained.
Mr. Joseph expressed the view that the Indian students were very good at academics at foreign universities. The flexibility in the course curriculum there (in the US) vis-à-vis stringent education system here (India) come in handy for them, he added.
Central Bank of India chief manager C. Ramamohan Rao said that the banks were offering education loan to encourage the students to pursue higher studies. The loan sanctioned by the bank would be a plus point at the visa interview, he said.
