Mild tension prevailed at the Andhra Loyola Institute of Engineering and Technology here on Friday after students staged a dharna in the campus, demanding that action be taken against the management for detaining a few students due to shortfall in attendance.
Following this, father of V. Tarun, a second year civil engineering student, approached the management on Thursday morning, requesting them to permit his son to write the examinations. Later, he reportedly died of heart stroke in the evening, said ACP Lavanya Lakshmi.
Holding the management responsible for his death, students protested in the campus and demanded action against the principal and others. The management explained the students about the rules and regulations of the college, but the latter did not buzz, continued their protest.
The students are planning to approach Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, seeking action against the college management, the ACP said. “We did not register any case as no complaint was lodged,” she added.
