Liver taken from Vizag to Vijayawada in Green Channel

A liver transplantation is taking place at Manipal Hospital in the A.P. Capital Region after the donor liver was brought from Visakhapatnam in a `Green Channel' in the early hours of Wednesday.

The donor is a 49-year-old man from Visakhapatnam, who was declared brain-dead due to Cerebro-Vascular Accident at Seven Hills Hospital on February 10 evening.

Liver was brought from Visakhapatnam through the Green Channel to Manipal Hospital in five hours in the early hours of February 11. Transplantation surgery began at 5 a.m. at Manipal Hospital.

The recipient is a 53-year-old man, who suffered liver failure due to nutritional deficiency.
