Youngsters, who have been undergoing training in computer animation, took time off on Sunday that coincided with the festival of lights Deepavali to give shape to their creative streak in a different form of art in Vijayawada.
‘Deepalankarana’ contest
A contest in ‘Deepalankarana’ (decoration with diyas), organised by the city-based Element School of Visual Arts, had 66 students vying with one another in creating enchanting patterns using clay models and earthen diyas to accentuate their beauty.
A refreshing challenge
The blend of clay modelling and use of diyas was a refreshing challenge for the participants who came up with spanking new ideas that included some of the current burning topics.
The models that stole the show included themes revolving around Samaikyandhra, Titanic ship, an Octopus, a kalasa kundam and an Egypt pyramid.
Cartoonist Kalasagar and Director of Spoorthy Creative Art School G. Srinivas adjudged the best works and gave away prizes to the winners.
P. Mahesh and Deepthi supervised the event.
