A large number of people had a hearty laugh on the occasion of the World Laughter Day at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation (IGMC) Stadium here on Sunday. It was organised by the Vijayawada Laughing Club in association with Walkers’ Association. ‘Grow stronger with laughter’ was the message conveyed by the organisers. Hundreds of people converged at the IGMC Stadium at 6 a.m. and after the morning’s walk, spent fun-filled moments by cracking jokes and exchanging pleasantries .

Taking part as the chief guest, noted psychiatrist R.K. Ayodhya said laughing was found to be an excellent way to reducing stress and it was even considered by medical practitioners as a therapy. He described laughter as a powerful emotion that helps people in changing the world in a peaceful and positive way.

Vijayawada Laughter Club founder T.V. Hanumantha Rao said about the World Laughter Day which was the initiative of Madan Kataria, founder of the concept of laughter yoga. Health, happiness and world peace were its objectives, Mr. Rao added.
