Kuchipudi fest from Feb.3

Arrangements are being made for the ‘Sata Mayuri’ Kuchipudi dance festival to be held at Siddhendrayogi Kalapeetham at Kuchipudi village for two-days from February 3. Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan will be the chief guest at the valedictory function to be held on February 4.

In a statement here on Sunday, Krishna district Collector Peeyush Kumar said that the Department of Culture, in association with Krishna District Cultural Council, Krishna Zilla Parishad, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams and Potti Sriramulu Telugu Univeristy, was making arrangements for the festival, in which seminars and workshops on Kuchipudi dance form would become a part. As part of the cultural performances, the ballet ‘Sata Mayuri’ to be performed by 111 dancers at a time would be highlight of the festival, he said. District in-charge Minister P. Ramachandra Reddy would inaugurate the festival. Ministers J. Geetha Reddy, K. Parthasarathy and officials would be present in the inaugural session.
