The Congress leaders of Krishna district will hold a meeting to express their “unconditional support” to Chief Minister N.Kiran Kumar Reddy who has been fighting, without compromise, against the bifurcation of the State.
Samaikyandhra Political JAC convenor and former PCC secretary Kolanukonda Sivaji said here on Saturday that some leaders in the Congress were trying to denigrate Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy in several ways because he had been opposing the division of the State.
The Congress leaders of Krishna district, including former Ministers Devineni Rajasekha, Pinnamaneni Venkateswara Rao and present chairman of Markfed Kanchi Rama Rao, would speak at the meeting to be held at 3 p.m. in the Ilapuram Convention Centre on November 16.
Mr. Sivaji said Congress workers and leaders of all the 13 districts in Seemandhra would conduct such meetings to extend their unconditional support to Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy after the meeting in Krishna district.
He said it was common knowledge that attempts to remove Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy were scuttled when Union Minister Kotla Suryaprakash Reddy refused to replace him. He appealed to all senior Congress leaders to walk in the footsteps of Mr. Suryaprakash Reddy and strengthen the hands of the Chief Minister.
