The State government is all set to conduct a three-day utsav at Kondapalli from April 5 to 7 in which workshops, meetings and several cultural events will be held highlighting the legacy of Kondapalli, according to Andhra Pradesh Creativity and Culture Commission Chief Executive Officer D. Vizai Bhaskar here on Thursday.

He told The Hindu the event would bring to fore the greatness of the Telugus, their history, literature and culture. “The first two days scholars and researchers will discuss the history and the cultural achievements of the language and on the final day the origin of the language and its significance,” he added.

Mr. Bhaskar said the event was taken up as part of the State government's efforts to protect and promote the language as 2018 was declared as the Telugu Language Protection and Promotion year by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.

He said with the language gathering importance at the international level, these workshops were the need of the hour to assess the direction of its growth in accordance with the modern times. “They will discuss concrete steps to be taken for the development of the language.”

These workshops would also strive for creating awareness among the public about the language and its history. “Efforts will be made to popularise the language without losing its nativity to the modern younger generation.”

He said events that reflect the culture, history and tradition of Telugu had been lined up. “Mr. Chandrababu Naidu will take part either at the inaugural session or at the closing ceremony.”

Minister for Water Resources Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao and Deputy Speaker Mandali Buddha Prasad will be the chief guests.

“Incidentally, Vijayanagara emperor Krishnadevarayulu took control of Kondapalli after a three-month long fight on April 5,” he pointed out.
