Government Whip in State Assembly and Congress leader from Telangana Toorpu Jayaprakash has questioned the intention of Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief K. Chandrasekhara Rao in getting statehood for Telangana.

At a press conference in Vijayawada on Thursday, Mr. Jayaprakash alleged that KCR was working in his self-interest and did not have true public agenda on his mind and was not working for getting the Telangana State carved.

“Why did he not participate in the September 30 Telangana March? Did he achieve anything in New Delhi?” he questioned KCR.

It was unfortunate that some leaders like Ponnam Prabhakar, KK, and Madhu Yashki were in the Jaipal Reddy camp and supporting KCR, he opined.

The TRS would not achieve Telangana as Congress was the sole party which could give Telanagana, he added.

The Pranahita and Chevella irrigation projects should be completed immediately and the Central Government should take up these by providing all necessary approvals, he said.

“About 1,000 people will march from Sangareddy to New Delhi beginning January 2013 and after the three-month walk, the people of Telangana will submit a memorandum to the Congress party high command on the need for taking up the projects,” he told reporters.

With the implementation of the project 20 lakh acres in Telangana would get irrigation facility along with six lakh acres in Medak district alone, Mr. Prabhakar said. The backwardness of Telangana region was only because of lack of irrigation facility, he said.
