Kantilal Dande, who assumed charge as the 129th Collector of Guntur district on Wednesday, set the ball rolling for an action plan to tackle water and sanitation issues in villages.

Addressing a review meeting soon after taking charge, Mr. Dande asked the Rural Water Supply and Panchayat Raj departments to prepare an action plan to provide water to all habitations located in tail-end areas.

He also told the RWS Department to give priority to sanitation.

Earlier, Mr. Dande took charge as Collector at 10.26 a.m. after performing a special puja at Venkateswara Swamy temple at Brindavan Gardens. Joint Collector Vivek Yadav and District Revenue Officer K. Naga Babu welcomed him to the Collector’s office.

In an informal chat with reporters, Mr. Dande outlined his priorities and said he would ensure that the welfare programmes initiated by the government were implemented.
