: YSR Congress MLA from Jaggampet in East Godavari district, Jyothula Nehru will join the Telugu Desam Party at a programme in the city on Monday.

Mr. Nehru was an active leader in the TDP when Deputy Chief Minister N. Chinarajappa was president of the ruling party’s East Godavari district unit.

It is going to be a home-coming for him if everything goes well.

Mr. Nehru was said to be sulking after he was denied the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Chairman’s post that fell vacant after incumbent Nandyal MLA Bhuma Nagi Reddy resigned from it before joining the TDP. YSRC president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, however, chose first-time legislator B. Rajendranath Reddy for the PAC post.

Mr. Nehru was deputy floor leader of the YSRC in the Assembly. His behaviour in the Assembly is also said to have come under the scrutiny of the three-member Assembly panel headed by Deputy Speaker Mandali Buddha Prasad.

The panel is learnt to have sought action against Mr. Nehru and others
