The strike launched by AP Junior Doctors Association (APJUDA) demanding regular payment of stipend, entered third day on Saturday.

Junior doctors of Siddhartha Medical College, abstained from classes, took out a rally and staged a rasta roko on National Highway 5. Protesting the alleged adamant attitude of the government in resolving their demands, they burnt the effigy of the government.

Addressing the medicos, association general secretary P. Hari Kiran said the government had given in writing promising to pay stipend in time and give 15 per cent hike in stipend for every two years, which was not done till today.

The junior doctors were facing severe problem due to irregular pay of stipend, he said and blamed the government for not responding to the agitation even after three days.

The APJUDA members are attending only emergency and the cases admitted in the ICU.

The junior doctors will boycott the emergency cases in a day or two, if the Government fails to respond to the agitation, they warned.
