Fitness freaks have a reason to smile. There is no need for them to sweat it out on machines. Working out to shed the extra baggage is now more fun than a regimen. All they need to do is just switch on the music and dance their way to the ideal weight.
The no-destination walking on treadmills is passe. The swanky gyms in the are offering some alternatives such as aerobics, spinning, bollywood dancing, and salsa.
“Aerobics is an easier way to lose weight because the music keeps you going. So one does not get bored,” says Talkwalkars Aerobics coach Prasanna Kumar.
Offered on alternate days for groups of five and more, aerobics is more suited for the younger crowd (below 30 years) because of the rigorous programmes, opines Mr. Prasanna. This is not the only option. If people are interested in other styles such as break dance and hip hop, classes can be arranged for them, he adds.
Another interesting option for fitness enthusiasts is the Zumba classes offered at Xpress Fitness, which is known as the Latin style of aerobics with different dance styles mixed into one fitness regime. Zumba is also an excellent alternative to all the cardio machines of the gym, feels Amrutha Inapurapu.
Bollywood dance
Bollywood dance classes offered at this gym are another interesting way to lose the extra inches off your body. The thrice-a-week class starts with an extensive warm-up session because 50 per cent of the dance steps are incorporated in it, says choreographer Venu.
“The class is fun because we get to dance for our favourite songs and workout at the same time,” says Radhika Suryadevara. “I actually look forward to attending the classes unlike when I have to go to a gym,” she adds. Some of the other interesting options include kickboxing, spinning classes, and vibration machine sessions that are offered at these gyms.
