The India International Travel Exhibition (IITE) proposes to organise a roadshow-cum-exhibition — one of India's leading B2C and B2B travel and tourism exhibition — in Vijayawada.

Apart from the city, the exhibition will be organised for three days each in Indore, Aurangabad, Raipur, and Nagpur. The event is an annual affair in the five tier II cities.

The exhibition will be organised in Aurangabad from August 10, Indore from October 5, Nagpur from January 25, 2013, and in Vijayawada from March 1 next year.

It will then be held at Raipur in Chhattisgarh from March 15, according to a statement here on Tuesday.

Vijayawada is known for automobile body-building, garment, iron, and hardware small-scale industries, the statement said.

Jawahar Autonagar was the largest automobile township in Asia for some time. About Rs.10 crore garment business takes place in Vastralatha building alone in the One Town on a daily basis. The city has many wholesale businesses.

They include iron market, pulses, cereals, and other edible products, fancy market, fertilizers, mango export, pharmacy, etc.

Commercial hub

Vijayawada is called the ‘Commerce hub' of Andhra Pradesh, for it provides the right environment for all agricultural and industrial goods to be transported in/out and traded in one single place.

Aurangabad, where the exhibition begins, was a trading hub four centuries ago. It is one of the fastest developing cities in Asia and ranks No.1 among the developing cities.

Recently, Aurangabad was in news for placing a single largest order for Mercedes Benz cars in a single transaction in India — 150 cars valued at Rs.65 crore.

Raipur, the young capital of Chhattisgarh, is the second major commercial centre in Central India after Indore.

IITE Director Meenakshi Gupta could be contacted for further details over phone No. 9341926794/080-41483066.
