Interest of ryots should be protected, says seer

Sri Ganapathi Sachidananda Swami has urged the Andhra Pradesh government to ensure welfare of the farming community. “Farmers are sacrificing their lands, the source of their livelihood, for building a new capital of Andhra Pradesh. It is the bounden duty of the government to protect their interests in the days to come,” he said at a press conference here on Wednesday. Referring to 2015, the seer said it would a mixed bag of the good and the bad. He also wished students, traders, politicians and others a prosperous year ahead. “Andhra Pradesh has a hoary past. Andhra poetry and Telugu literature has impressed people across the world,” he said, adding that the A.P. government would prosper with the blessings of the presiding deity of Vijayawada, Goddess Kanaka Durga.

The seer will also preside over Hanuman Chalisa paarayana maha yagna at Tenali in Guntur district on January 31.
