“Infant’s death not due to ant bites”

May 06, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 06:28 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

A BJP fact-finding committee, led by its chairperson Badam Ramesh, announced that the death of the infant at the Old Government Hospital in the city was not due to ant bites as alleged.

Dr. Ramesh, along with committee members — T. Sivanageswara Rao, Kaarani Subramanyam, and T. Ramesh Babu — inspected the hospital and also interacted with mothers, employees, and security personnel.

Dr. Ramesh said there was no chance of death occurring due to ant bites and false reports in the media exaggerated the issue.

He said equipment available in the hospital was on par with any corporate hospital.

Dr. Ramesh stressed the need to increase the bed strength from 145 to 400 and ensure that infrastructure was developed so that equipment given under National Rural Health Mission was accommodated.
