IIIT student selected for Asia Yogasana competitions

Potnuru Sobha Rani, a third-year Computer Science Engineering student of Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (RGUKT) Nuzvid IIIT, has been selected for Asia Yogasana Competitions.

She will participate in the Asia-level competitions likely to be held in Malaysia. The event is being organised by the Asian Yoga Federation in October this year, according to IIIT in-charge Director K. Hanumantha Rao and Yoga Teacher Sridhar Akkineni. Sobha Rani’s parents, P. Appala Konda and Papa Ratnam, eke out livelihood by fishing.

The student stood at second place in the State-level competitions and selected for nationals conducted by the Yoga Federation of India, in Hyderabad from December 26 to 29. “The encouragement from my parents, college director and teacher helped me to get selected for national and Asian-level competitions,” Ms Sobha Ranitold The Hindu .

Mr. Hanumantha Rao expressed confidence that the student would be selected for the international competitions and bring laurels to RGUKT.
