: Andhra Pradesh continued to reel under the impact of heat wave on Saturday as the temperatures hovered between 39 and 44 Degree Celsius at many places. Severe heat-wave conditions prevailed in 37 mandals and this number is expected to come down to 30 in the next couple of days.
Three persons died of sunstroke in Anantapur district.
Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and the two Godavari districts will have severe heat wave in many mandals in 24 hours.
The heat wave will be moderate at other places in the State. Anantapur recorded the day’s highest temperature at 43.5 degree C, while in Vijayawada and Tirupati it was 40 degree Celsius. At 31 degree C, Visakhapatnam recorded lowest temperature among the major cities.
The temperatures are expected to rise further in the next couple of days. Accordingly, people have been cautioned against exposing to peak temperatures in order to save themselves from sunstroke.
More than normal temperatures were recorded at several places in Rayalaseema and similar conditions prevailed in coastal Andhra Pradesh.
Hot breeze forced people to stay indoors and as the Meteorological Department predicted higher temperatures in the coming days, they are not daring to venture out after 8 a.m. itself.
Hospitals received hundreds of patients suffering with fever as the mercury has shot up in the last few days.
Fifty two year old Yellappa, a weaver residing in Kethireddy Colony of Dharmavaram town, died at home after he fell unconscious and breathed his last soon after. Another woman – Krishnamma (45), a daily labourer in Dharmavaram — was taken ill two days ago with symptoms of a sunstroke and died on Saturday.
Satyanarayana (55), a resident of the Market Street in Dharmavaram, went about his daily chore of selling groceries, but returned home exhausted. He was admitted to hospital, but soon died.
A 55-year-old woman died of sunstroke at Chinnairlapadu near Kanigiri in Prakasam district.
