A 303 rifle, handled by security personnel of Irrigation Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, reportedly misfired on Saturday. However, no one was injured in the incident.

According to sources, the rifle went off when Armed Reserve constable Srinivas was cleaning it at Mr. Rao’s house at Gollapudi. The bullet hit the roof, partially damaging it. On being informed, Bhavanipuram Police rushed to the spot. According to DCP (Administration) G.V.G. Ashok Kumar, security personnel accidentally pressed the trigger causing misfire. The Minister was not at his residence at the time of the incident.
