Focus on basics, students told

January 23, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:49 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

With a focus on mastering advanced topics, most students are ignoring the importance of fundamentals. Unless the basics are strong, it will be tough for students to achieve proficiency in any field and emphasis should be laid on fundamentals.

This was the advice given by experts to students at the one-day technical workshop on “Trouble shooting and servicing of electrical drives and appliances” organised by Potti Sriramulu Chalavadi Mallikharjuna Rao College of Engineering and Technology on the college premises here on Thursday. During campus interviews, most company representatives complain that majority of students are not industry ready. This is mainly because students are drifting away from fundamentals, said K. Nageswara Rao, principal of the college.
