A foot overbridge (FOB) is coming up near the PWD Grounds (Swaraj Maidan) on the ever busy Bandar Road.

Prakash Arts, an advertising agency, has taken up the task of constructing the FOB in view of the traffic flow. People are finding it difficult to cross the road to reach the rythu bazaar and other places located near the Swaraj Maidan and vice versa.

Prakash Arts chairman C. Subba Rao said the agency would spend more than Rs.90 lakh to construct the FOB.

It could go up to Rs.1 crore and the FOB would be ready in the next two weeks.

A provision was made to install escalators on either side of the FOB for the convenience of people, particularly the aged.

However, it was not part of the present construction, he said.

“The provision is made for future purposes,” he said. The escalators could cost up to Rs.1.20 crore.

VMC officials said the agency was awarded the contract to construct the FOB.

The corporation was not incurring any expenditure on it.

The agency would generate revenue through advertisements on the FOB, they said.
