Vara Lakshmi Vratam was observed with utmost devotion by women in large numbers on the first Friday preceding the full moon day of the auspicious “Sravana'' month to appease the goddess of boons, in Prakasam district.

Well dressed women performed special poojas and offered delicious dishes prepared with reverence to Mahalakshmi, the Goddess of wealth, after cleaning their houses and decorating them with Rangoli.

Devout men and women thronged “Ammavari'' temples on the occasion for invoking the blessings of the mother goddess on them and their families.

Women made a beeline to jewellery stores as also textile shops on the occasion.
