Devotional fervour marked the singing of Annamayya Sankeertanams coinciding with the annual Brahmotsavam at the Srigiri Venkateswara Swamy temple here.

Ms Nageswaramma and Gorakavi Raghuram drowned the devotees in devotion, singing popular compositions of the greatest composer of Carnatic music Tallapaka Annamacharya.

Budding singers Lahari and Harika, the disciples of Ch.Nageswaramma, also stole the limelight rendering select songs of the 15th century saint poet in praise of the Lord of Seven Hills.

The singers were ably supported by Sk. Babu (keyboard), N.Sukumar (Tabala) and T. Sivaprakash (Dolak).‘Poolangi Seva’ was performed to Sri Balaji by decorating the idol with colourful clothing, dazzling jewels and attractive garlands on Monday.

Special ‘homams’

Special ‘homams’ were performed on the occasion by Vedic priests led by Parankusam Sitaracharyulu from Tirumala, said temple founder trustee Alluru Venkata Ramana Rao.
