Divisional Railway Manager’s Office, which is the headquarters of Vijayawada Division, has been certified as Energy Efficient Building and accorded a 5-star rating by Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), on Thursday.
This three-storied building comprising of all departments, is spread over 18,595.36 sqaure meters and is located in a warm and humid zone.
The DRM’s office building is electrified with 1,602 LED lights, 82 star-rated AC units with total connected load of 1148.95 KW. Due to various energy conservation measures adopted like provision of LED lights, star-rated AC units, star-rated ceiling fans, energy savers for A/C units, occupancy sensors for officers’ chambers; the energy consumption of the building has dropped from 8.14 lakh units in 2016 to 7.87 Lakh units in 2017 thus saving 0.27 lakh units amounting to Rs. 2,25 lakhs.
Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) award , accorded by the Ministry of Power, is basing on the electrical consumption per square metre of the building. :”Since, the consumption of DRM office has dropped due to various energy conservation measures, BEE accorded a five- star rating,” said a release from SCR.
