Advising tribal people not to fall prey to quacks but to avail the services of primary health centres, Assembly Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao on Monday said the State government was committed to improving their living conditions.
Dr. Rao visited Vetukuru and Kutravada tribal hamlets of Maredumilli and interacted with the residents. Referring to the death of 16 persons at Chaparayi hamlet due to food poisoning coupled with seasonal fevers, he said: “All steps will be taken to prevent recurrence of such incidents. The entire machinery has swung into action to conduct health check-ups and provide medication to the needy,” he said.
Observing that most of the tribal people were still under the influence of superstitions, he highlighted the need for taking steps to inculcate scientific outlook among the residents.
“Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery (ANM) is the point of contact for you people to reach out to the government.”
