The internal squabbles in Krishna district Congress took a turn with pro and anti Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal groups launching a tirade against each other for the past one month.

Christmas celebrations by Pradesh Congress Committee secretary Kolanakonda Shivaji turned out to be a platform for disgruntled Congress leaders from Krishna district to come together and voice their concern over the alleged lack of interest by the MP to strengthen the party in Vijayawada and take along all the leaders in party programmes.

At a ‘Atma Gaurava Sabha' organised by Mr. Sivaji, he did not mince words in accusing Mr. Rajagopal of ignoring leaders of a particular caste and said that it was this concern that had forced leaders from that community to come together to get their due. The bone of contention is the district president's post for which the group is trying and wants Mr. Rajagopal to pitch for that.

In addition to that their grouse is Mr. Rajagopal's alleged lack on interest in getting some local key posts in Kanaka Durga Temple and taking interest in developing the city or widening the N.H. 9 at the temple curve.

Dig at TDP

Meanwhile, TDP district unit president Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao and party leader Bonda Uma Maheswara Rao have launched a scathing attack on the Congress MP. “Mr. Rajagopal is concerned about everything except the issues pertaining to his own Parliamentary segment. In the last seven-and-half years, the Congress leader has done nothing except undertaking ‘padayatras' holding a party flag,” they ridiculed.

The Congress leaders themselves are criticising the MP for not developing the city, which shows the Congress party's interest in solving people's problems, says Mr. Uma Maheswara Rao.
